What is THCA?

THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the natural, non-psychoactive form of THC found in raw cannabis. Unlike THC, THCA does not produce a high unless it is heated through a process called decarboxylation.

The Science Behind Decarboxylation

When THCA is heated to around 230°F (110°C), it converts into THC. The general formula for this conversion is:

THCA × 0.877 = THC

This means that for every 100mg of THCA, you get about 87.7mg of THC after full decarboxylation.

Legality in North Carolina

While THCA itself is legal under hemp laws, converting it into THC is illegal in North Carolina. Our products are compliant in their natural form, but we do not condone or encourage any illegal activity. Always follow state and federal laws when using hemp-derived products.

How Can We Legally Sell Delta-9 THC in Gummies?

Under the 2018 Farm Bill and North Carolina state law, hemp-derived Delta-9 THC is legal as long as it comes from hemp (not marijuana) and the final product contains no more than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight.
